Le r\u00f4le qu&rsquo;ont jou\u00e9 ces impacts durant le premier milliard d&rsquo;ann\u00e9es reste incertain, mais il est possible que les plus gros\u00a0<span class=\"tooltip__TooltipBoxWrapper-sc-6usjli-0 iqWaqb\"><span class=\"wrappers__Span-sc-13rs60f-1 eEGdAN\" aria-expanded=\"false\">impacteurs<\/span><\/span>\u00a0aient pu contribuer \u00e0 l&rsquo;initiation de la g\u00e9odynamique qui caract\u00e9rise actuellement la Terre, notamment en initiant les premi\u00e8res\u00a0<span class=\"tooltip__TooltipBoxWrapper-sc-6usjli-0 iqWaqb\"><span class=\"wrappers__Span-sc-13rs60f-1 eEGdAN\" aria-expanded=\"false\">zones de subduction<\/span><\/span> ou la formation de panaches mantelliques.<\/p>\n<p>Toutefois, cette contribution reste mal contrainte, car il manque aux scientifiques le t\u00e9moignage g\u00e9ologique de ces impacts. Contrairement \u00e0 la\u00a0<span class=\"tooltip__TooltipBoxWrapper-sc-6usjli-0 iqWaqb\"><span class=\"wrappers__Span-sc-13rs60f-1 eEGdAN\" aria-expanded=\"false\">Lune<\/span><\/span>, qui a archiv\u00e9 sur sa surface l&rsquo;histoire de cet intense bombardement m\u00e9t\u00e9oritique, la Terre en a en effet progressivement effac\u00e9 les traces,\u00a0<em>via<\/em>\u00a0les processus tectoniques et \u00e9rosifs qui recyclent la cro\u00fbte terrestre au fur et \u00e0 mesure.<\/p>\n<h4 id=\"les-vieux-crateres-ont-presque-tous-disparu\">Les vieux crat\u00e8res ont (presque) tous disparu<\/h4>\n<p>Jusqu&rsquo;\u00e0 pr\u00e9sent,\u00a0le plus vieux crat\u00e8re\u00a0d&rsquo;impact clairement identifi\u00e9\u00a0datait de 2,23 milliards d&rsquo;ann\u00e9es. Il est situ\u00e9 \u00e0 Yarrabubba, dans l&rsquo;ouest de l&rsquo;Australie. Il existe ainsi un \u00ab\u00a0trou\u00a0\u00bb dans les donn\u00e9es de pr\u00e8s de deux milliards d&rsquo;ann\u00e9es\u00a0! Cependant, une r\u00e9gion g\u00e9ologique d&rsquo;Australie intrigue depuis longtemps les scientifiques. Il s&rsquo;agit de l&rsquo;East Pilbara Terrane, un plateau volcanique de 200 kilom\u00e8tres de diam\u00e8tre datant de la p\u00e9riode Pal\u00e9oarch\u00e9enne (3,53 \u00e0 3,23 milliards d&rsquo;ann\u00e9es).<\/p>\n<p>De nombreuses \u00e9tudes ont interpr\u00e9t\u00e9 ce plateau comme ayant \u00e9t\u00e9 produit par des processus magmatiques associ\u00e9s \u00e0 la mise en route de proto-subductions.
